The crater of Salazie is the most humid of the three craters present on the island. So, it is very green and the vegetation is luxuriant. Grand-Ilet and Hell-Bourg are the two small towns present in the craters where we hade a rest.

La Roche écrite is a famous summit to climb to have a wonderful view on Mafate and Salazie craters and if no clouds on the "Piton des neiges". Go there early in the morning to have best chance for "no clouds" conditions.

The Piton d'Enchaing is a very sharp hill roughtly in the center of the crater. It is nice to climb to have a general view on the area around if no clouds are present of course.
